Been watching Armstrong's twitter for the past month and it seems all his workout videos are DB/cardio drills. Seems like the guy is focusced on losing weight and getting into that 215-220 range from the 234lb he played at last year.
Here's his latest workout, posted 30 minutes ago:
You just have to love this guy's work ethic.
Who knows though? Does he look skinnier? Maybe Fisher and the defensive staff told Armstrong to lose weight over the offseason and he'll have a shot at starting as safety for the team. Since that was his original position in college, the learning curve shouldn't be too hard, right?
What about Williams' D? He says that no other defense plays safeties as far back as he does. Does Armstrong have the ball-hawking skills and the quickness to fulfill the role needed? We all know Armstrong is a guy that lays the wood; we all saw that in his play from last year, but how sound is his pass coverage?
It would be really nice to go into the draft not having to draft a safety in the first three rounds. If Armstrong moves to safety, the quartet of Armstrong, McDonald, McLeod, and Daniels sounds really solid to me.
