Number 2 Pick

There are many options the Rams would like to do with the number 2 pick. Trading is the most popular option among fans who have thrived during drafts since the RG3 trade. Off season has been the most exciting part of Rams football for sometime now, and we are reluctant to let that go. Most of us have become proficient at analyzing free agents, and drafting rookies. I am confident that handful of my comrades on this site can even work for an NFL team.

That being said, what we forget to do is that Rams are no longer in a rebuild mode anymore. We have a lot of talent on this team now. RE Quinn, LT Long, MLB Laurinaitis, LE Long, WR Austin, CB Jenkins, DT Brockers, LB Ogletree, RB Stacy, CB Johnson, S McDonald, LG Saffold, WR Givens, TE Cook, TE Kendricks, DT Langford, and QB Bradford have all shown star like qualities. The only glaring holes I see on this team are S, and RG. McLeod did a great job at Safety last year, and our offensive line succeeded with a lot of plugins at RG. I would like to draft another safety in the first 3 rounds, but I am confident about the talent on this team. I expect this team to make the playoffs this year. Rams drafting an OT or WR is not a need, it is an upgrade. Long made the pro-bowl this year, and he is ranked as a top 5 tackle in almost all the OT rankings I have seen. Barksdale has been an above average RT who comes at a very low price this year. We also have Saffold who can play LT if needed in the first few games.

The position that will keep us out of the playoffs isn't WR, T, S, or DE; it is QB. If Bradford gets injured again, Rams will not make it to the playoffs. If Bradford doesn't play well, Rams will not make it to the playoffs in this division. The only way to remedy this problem is to get a gamer at QB. I think drafting Johnny football is our best option at number 2. I know this will break a lot of people's heart, but this kid has heart/confidence. He is a born winner. That is the IT factor you look for in the QB position. That is the IT factor I never saw in Bradford. It would be my pick at number 2.
