The pre draft hype and smokescreens are starting to clear. It is becoming readily evident that the most talented player in the 2014 draft will become a Ram in May. The Texans appear to be drafting a quarterback with the first pick and Clowney falls to the Rams. It is a logical pick for the future youth movement of the Rams. Previous drafts have built up a solid young WR core and last year the Rams went deep with a number 1 pick to acquire a frachise WR in Tavon Austin.
The Rams free agent strategy has been to wait on the talent to develop and to not jump in and sign other teams aging players to large contracts. The Rams are smart in taking the time and developing their own talent rather than trying for the instant quick fix which spells disaster for a franchise in the long run. That said, the Rams free agent strategy suggests that they are going to focus on Defense with the first four picks and then use the remaining picks to add depth to the offense.
