Is Barksdale the Answer? Poll Included

The Rams have run 529 passing plays this year with Barksdale playing RT. Joe has given up pressure on the QB (hit, sack, or hurry) 47 times. This means that 8.9 percent of passing plays Barksdale is giving up pressure. So here is the million dollar question. Is 8.9 percent good enough for Barksdale to be the long term solution to our right side?

Answer: 8.9 percent is horrible. If you take the top 50 tackles (by snaps) in the NFL, Barksdale ranks 49th in protecting the QB. 49th!!!

I really do not understand why people have this love affair with Joe. I get it that he has a great story, but his on field production (especially in pass protection) is poor. He gets completely dominated by quality edge rushers.

I believe that Joe Barksdale is a solid back up player and would not start on the huge majority of NFL teams.

Could Joe be better at Guard where he doesn’t have to deal with much faster edge rushers?

On a side note, How bad is Barrett Jones that he does not start over Joseph or an injured Wells? The Rams better draft a QB and three offensive linemen!
