Possible move to LA

The year was 1995. I was eleven years old and a die hard Rams fan since the age of five. I was informed by my father that my favorite sports team was not going to be located in Los Angeles any longer. My response was, "why?" Dad didn't go in the political reasons why a sports team leaves a city, but in as nice of terms as possible he explained the City and the owner Georgia Frontire, did not give a shit about the fans. He was going through similar issues as he was a Raider fan. I am now 30 and have seen countless teams leave their city for "greener pastures." I was lucky. Hell, the Rams at least kept the team name. It would have been difficult to route for the St. Louis Arch.

Most of my Dads adult friends abandon the team they grew up routing for when the Rams made the move to St. Louis. I was a child so I made the conscious decision to stick it out. At that moment in history all the teams I affiliated myself with were perennial losers. The Rams, Los Angeles Kings, and California Angels....Oh how I miss that name. I wore my teams colors like a badge of honor. I thought to myself it will pay off some day. The only team that had any success was the Lakers, but I am not a huge basketball fan so it became somewhat boring watching The Lakers win Championships like they were going out of style.

It all paid off during the 1999 season when the Rams swept through the NFL like a bull in a china shop erasing 10 years of utter frustration. Everybody knew I was a Rams mega fan. I worked at the movie theater that year and our uniform was an oxford white shirt. I wore my NFC West Championship shirt underneath and was easily seen through my oxford shirt. The manager could have sent me home or told me to put on another undershirt, but the Rams was all I talked about. All day, everyday. I received phone calls for weeks after the Rams won the Superbowl. I'm thinking I did't win the damn game, but I was a good fan who stuck with my team and adults respect that in a kid.

My point is, not matter what happens with this stadium situation, there is a large group of die hard Los Angeles Rams fans that still exist to this day. I notice a certain amount of disdain pointed to us loyal LA fans and it is bullshit if you can take my honest assessment. It's not from all the St Louis crowd and I applaud those of you for that. No matter what happens I will continue to route for the Rams. I'm not hiding the fact that I want my team back, but if they remain in St.Louis nothing is going to change here on TST. The same group of dedicated fans from LA will still be there like they always have been. Gut check time comes when and if the Rams do relocate. It's only been a few hours since the "news" broke about Stan Kroenke purchasing land in Los Angeles and I'm already seeing dissension in the ranks.
