Breaking down the needs that the Rams have and what's available in the 1st round. Lets start with the positions that IMHO get drafted in the top 10-15 spots are QB,WR,DL,OT,CB. I'm against drafting OG,C, this early and LB,S are a bit of a reach that high. So lets look at the Rams needs starting with QB Bradford, some may say take a QB but i say no i like the idea of Bradford and Schottie working together for a 3rd year and before the injury Bradford was playing well but not quite great. CB there really isnt a top cb in this draft so again no on CB position. DT spot the Rams have Brockers and Langford, Langford is a possible cap casualty but I think Rams keep him for another year and still might draft either Nix or Hageman but neither of them are the 1st pick in the 1st round but the pick at #13. DE position the Rams have Quinn & Long and even though Clowney has great potential this pick would be a shocker, and with Rams already invested in Hayes there is already 3 DE's in the rotation ,now the 2 positions where the draft has talent at need positions for the Rams. OT the Rams have Long & Barksdale, There is still some big ?? Going into next season, will Long be healthy and is Barksdale truly a legit OT in the NFL, There are 4 OT's to choose from with there being favorites depending on who you talk to, I prefer Matthews. The other position of debate is wr. I am in agreement that it takes wr's 2-3 years to develop but I'm also in the opinion you generally get what's considered a #1 wr in the top 10 picks. This is where it's tough to decide cause the Rams are in the middle of both these situations at wr with the position being so young. so the question is do you think Sammy Watkins is that much of a game changer to draft him? This is where I look back at need and players available at the top of this draft and come to the conclusion Watkins is the BPA to be taken this high with Matthews a close 2nd.
