Sam Bradford injury: Rams QB running again, on schedule for camp

The Rams quarterback is running on a treadmill, and his recovery is on pace, says the team's GM.

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is running again, according to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports. General Manager Les Snead told Marvez Tuesday night that Bradford's recovery was on pace, and he was now running on a treadmill.

Bradford tore his ACL in October against the Carolina Panthers.

That's obviously good news for the Rams ... though being on schedule with your recovery isn't really news per se. It's really just an update, but it's a good update. Especially for the Rams, who are working under the assumption that Bradford will return in time for training camp.

Snead and head coach Jeff Fisher publicly hitched their wagon to Bradford, and his $17.6 million cap hit, throughout the spring. They have the second overall pick in the a draft ripe with quarterbacks, and it's lead to some media speculation that the team could part ways with Bradford.

The response from Snead et al is that they'll probably look for a prospect on the second or third day of the draft this year. However, they have scouted the top quarterbacks in the draft -- Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles & Johnny Manziel -- supposedly so they'll have a better understanding of those players when a potential trade partner comes calling.

If they are indeed counting on Bradford, having him back in time for camp would be a desirable outcome. They've preached the benefits of growth and continuity, and this would be Bradford's third camp with the same playbook.

Now, if they can just get Jake Long back on the field for Week 1.
