Okay, so, I have done plenty of free agency and draft mocks on what I think the Rams should do this spring. However, from the quotes I have heard from Les Snead and Jeff Fisher, it seems that what my hopes are not going to be fulfilled. I DESPERATELY WANT the Rams to take Sammy Watkins in the draft. It crushes me that the Rams have not had a #1 receiver in such a long time since Torry Holt was wearing number #81. I love all the WR's we have right now, but I don't think they scare the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Arizona Cardinals. All 3 of those teams dare us to throw the football, because they know they can cover our guys. Granted, our receivers are young, but so are the secondaries from these teams. They are only going to get better as well. I love Stedman Bailey and I think he can be our #2 for a long time. I love Tavon and his speed, but he isn't going to beat Sherman on the outside 1 on 1. He'll do his damage on the inside in the slot. As for Chris Givens and Brian Quick. I don't see either of them being the #1 that will scare NFC West secondaries. That's why I want Sammy Watkins. But...unfortunately, I don't think that's what the Rams have in mind right now...
I think the Rams free-agency will largely determine what they do in the draft. If we don't resign Saffold, we are definitely going OT with one of our first round picks. That more likely will be Jake Matthews. Fisher is going to want Bruce Matthew's son plain and simple. I just wish that we could get Sammy Watkins and Jake Matthews by trading back from the #2 pick to #4. And then trading up from #12 to #7 or #8. I don't think Jeff Fisher and Les Snead will make much noise in free agency. It will mainly be cutting guys to have cap room.
Snead & Fisher's Draft Plan:
Round 1 Pick 4 (Trade with Cleveland) : Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Round 1 Pick 13 (More likely another trade down) : Rashede Hageman, DT, Minnesota
Round 2 : Dion Bailey, S, USC
Round 3: David Yankey, G, Stanford
Round 4: Denzell Perryman, LB, Miami
