Why we are keeping Sam Bradford & Other Stuff

As we get ready to do endless Mock Draft articles and arguing about taking a new QB. I thought I’d take the time to tell you to just "STOP IT!"

Sam Bradford will be back so just get used to it. No one in their right mind at Rams Park is going to trade him regardless of his contract. Why would you trade him for an unknown, especially since it doesn’t appear that Schottenheimer is going anywhere soon? Why would Fisher want to come out of the gate slow with someone who doesn’t even know this sad offensive scheme?

Sam is the best option for lots of reasons, but let’s start with this year’s performance.

Sam is still rated number 11 and only played seven games! Kellen managed to play nine games and still come in at #30 with less yards and more interceptions. I mean check out the list and see all of your favorite replacements that are below him. So Fisher is going to trade him away? I don’t think so, not unless crack smoking becomes part of team meetings.

I can hear it already, "We need somebody to take shots down the field!"

Okay so let’s look at air yards next:

Yep poor old Sammy is stuck down at number 38. Too bad he didn’t air it out like Kellen who was number 34, even though he had fewer yards and more interceptions and played in two more games.

I really think that shots down the field are a symptom of our scheme… not so much the fault of the QB’s.

You have to take in the fact that we don’t have the world’s greatest pass catchers either. Our receivers rank around the middle of the league in drops. This chart had a total of 413 receivers listed.

What I love about the chart above is Stedman Baileys Zero drops on 17 receptions. That say’s a lot about taking more receivers in the next draft. We might need one, but I think some of these pass catchers are not going to be around next season. Cook should go for sure.

Then again winning games is about putting points on the board.

Sam was pretty close to putting up twice as many points as Clemens if you consider he played two less games and had no running game. That’s pretty amazing performance that won’t go overlooked when it comes to considering whether he should start next year.

Anyway food for thought when you start playing with your draft board.
