First fan post on here but I have a good idea.....

I hear a rumor going on about the Carolina Panthers may be looking at cutting Charles Godfrey. I know the guy is injury prone but he could do the Rams some good in the secondary as a FS instead of the team spending big $ on a guy like Jarius Byrd. Godfrey is a CB turned FS and has been a pretty good performer. Just think, if he was to get cut, he could be had for cheap by the Rams and bring some experience to the secondary. That would allow the Rams to draft a FS and bring him along slowly instead of thrusting him into a starting role right away. Also, the team wouldn't have to spend such a high pick on a FS in the draft and look at work on fixing the offense at WR and OL. So many people are in love with the idea of adding Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with a high draft pick at #13 but I don't think the guy is worth a pick that high. He's not going to bring that Eric Berry type of presence to the secondary eventhough Clinton-Dix is a pretty good player. I just think adding Godfrey will help alot if Finnegan is cut because you can get Verner or Davis for cheaper than what Finnegan is being paid. Signing one of those guys and Godfrey as well can cost what Finnegan cost against cap himself. I say this because the defense isn't far off from stellar and if this scenerio I have just suggested was to happen, the Rams could draft Clwoney if they wanted to and the secondary wouldn't be in such a flux as it is now. Also, the team would have a Chris Long replacement eventhough I don't want to see CL91 go anywhere. Fisher wants a physical team and I think the team has attitude defensivley but lacks physicality. The offense is a different story though. The offense could use a guy like Sammy Watkins but the team can't afford to keep adding rookie after rookie after rookie at WR and expect to have a legit threat that teams fear. Hakeem Nicks would be a nice pickup but the team has no $ to spend on players in FA. Sam needs a OL that is dominant to be the Sam Bradford the team invisioned when they drafted him. The Rams aren't far off from being that team that scares everyone like the 49ers are. Being young and talented is where this Rams team is right now, they just lack consistency and durability. Our Rams are ready to challenge the NFL but the right moves need to be made this offseason and no more splurging $ on mediocore players who dont perform up to the big $ being spent on them
