2013 season has been like a horror movie thus far. We have watched J.Long get bull rushed by D.Ware, we have seen Finnegan get raped week in and week out, Jared Cook has shown us that he prefers not to block, Richardson is obviously not the back we all hoped him to be, Sam Bradford does make mental mistakes when under pressure, among a million other problems. These are problems, but they don't take us off course.
None of us thought we would win a super bowl this year. Most of us hoped to have a long shot at the playoffs, which is still there. Good news is all the problems we have are fixable, and we have the whole season to fix them. Jake Long is an incredible LT, and he is worth 8M per year. Finnegan's guaranteed salary ends this season, so at the end of the season we can release him at little cost. Jared Cook is a hell of a mismatch. McDonald is a hell of a safety, and Ogletree is a superstar in the making. Wells is not the center we hoped for, but he also can be released with minimal cap penalty. We already have his replacement on the roster. Obviously, our idiot DC should be replaced, but I am sure Jeff can handle that. Tavon hasn't been amazing, but he has a lot of qualities. McLeod is actually pretty impressive for an undrafted FA. Next year he can only get better.
What we need to realize is, this is still a rebuilding year, and there is a lot of young talent on this team. If Washington keeps losing at this rate, we will have 2 picks in the top 15. We need a RB, LG, and maybe a FS. With two 1st rounders, even I can fill those holes.
Although we are frustrated with the idiotic moves of our special teams, that keeps pegging us inside our own 5. Watching Finnegan blow covers; our receivers drop passes or blow assignments. These are just growing pains of a young team. As long as we keep adding young talent, everything will eventually start clicking. We will soon be competitive. Very Competitive for years to come.
