St.Louis Rams-Failure To Make Adjustments

The Sky is not Falling yet but for many of us Rams Fans we are getting sick of the same old Game-plan Week in Week out, and to be honest i can see where the frustration is coming from. 1-2 is far better than 0-3 we all know that, its just the way we have looked in each of these first 3 games is far from what we expected, plain sloppy and uncoachable. Let me give my take on what i think is the problem heading into the Big Showdown against our Rivals the 49ers, Players seem to be making the same mistakes on special teams is this a coaching error? Or is it players being Uncoachable? I say why not both, we know fish is known for being a hands on player coach but know he is a hard nose guy when it comes to making mistakes that put the team in terrible field position and penalties are just dumb headed, caused by not hustling most of the time. We know he preaches everyday in practice about it but at some point you need to punish the players and keep them accountable for their mistakes and if they keep doing it, put them in the so called "Dog House" til they are ready and capable of being on the field without hurting the team in such a dumb way, they happen but at some point their has to be accountability among the players. Second thing i observe just as a long time Rams Fan is the Coaching is beyond Stubborn, its getting to the point of being plain dumb, How can we run the same offensive/defensive schemes every single week?? Is it so teams can just sit back and pick us apart on both sides of the ball, being way to predictable just allowing players to have career days and make adjustments too late in the game. I get Fish and Schotty want to establish the run its understandable, WE DON"T HAVE THAT TYPE OF RB though(Sorry for the all Caps, had to get point across lol). The way i see this team built is somewhat how NO and GB are with Pass first(hurry up Tempo Style) with a solid running game to compliment the pass first, as much as we all want to like DR, Pead, Benny, Stacy none of them will get us that push in the beginning of the game to establish the run so we could run more play action is just not who they are, we have more change of speed backs who like being in shotgun that can be in space with room to work when they get the ball. Coaching needs to realize the type of league it is in the NFl now (passing league) and adjust to the players, personnel we have on the roster. We easily can run the hurry up at the beginning of the game to establish the tempo for our Offense and get the Defense fired up about going out on the Field with a lead for once, We can't be as aggressive on D if we are always in 10-20 point holes every game.

On to my third and final point somewhat, This is not the 90's anymore Fish we can't live in the past with all this I-Formation, Single back, Power-I and the same power formation he used to run with Eddie George and Steve Mcnair. They don't work as well in the league like they used to, one because its a passing league now and you can't run plain Jane vanilla offensive sets teams know them all to well and know exactly what plays are coming out of them, we have to get creative on offense to get DR and Pead on some Stretch and Draw plays in space, Tavon running more routes to get him where he is most explosive. Schotty will not make it after this season or he can't in my opinion, he has never been that creative when it comes to putting his best play makers is best position to makes plays and i don't see him changing anytime soon, or at least he needs to let Sammy B run his own thing the Same way Rodgers and Peyton do with their offenses(calling audibles) getting more of Responsibility..

Defensively i'll be proud to be the one and say i think WALTON is the Problem, Can anyone recall last year at anytime in the season where our Defensive Secondary Looked as bad as it does now with Dahl and Mikell back there instead of TJ and Mcleod?? Not saying we didn't upgrade big time, because we did but i mean how in the word did we drop off so bad in coverage with better players, that sounds like Scheme and coaching to me. The only time any of us fans would be mad at our team is when JJ played 10 yards off the line of scrimmage of 3rd and Short, this year its at an all time bad when we are giving up career passing and receiving yards to Wr's and QB's. Fish and Walton think that playing Zone is going to slowly work the Rook Safeties in the NFL but they are sadly mistaken, you have to give them the reigns just like you did JJ and Tru last year and let them learn from mistakes, I've said it plenty of times i'd rather get beat while the players learn from what they do wrong then to Slowly work them into different packages so they are ready at the end of the year. We are getting dinked, dunked, Burned all the way down the field for TD's anyways so why doesn't Walton and Fish for that matter blitz, mix up coverages, man, press the opposing offense and try to be a little reckless and aggressive like we were last year, it is why we were one of the stingiest defenses last year(Led the League in Sacks i remind you). That is why we were suppose to be a Top 10 defense but for some reason he is holding back for some reason, it makes no sense the NFL is a Win now League or your out of a job, we can't save the gismos and gadgets for our Rivals/Division opponents because that is only 6 games, their are 10 other ones we need to try to win!!
