Even if he no longer plays for the Rams, Steven Jackson remains one of my favorite players in the NFL. EXCEPT THIS WEEK! The Rams are my favorite sports icon, period. Even when Dickerson left (my favorite player all-time) I still couldn't pull for him on the Colts and Raiders when playing the Rams.
The Rams need to pull out of their defensive funk from last week or Mr. Ryan (I always hear Sean Connery's voice from 'The Hunt for Red October") will have a big day. I'm not impressed with Mr. Walton's play calling so far. Did they under-estimate the Cards with little man coverage or did Phoenix expose weaknesses that need immediate corrections. With the possibility of Chris Long missing the game, it puts extra pressure on the Defensive Player of the Week to repeat his efforts and everyone else on defense doing just a little more to make a difference.
Speaking of play calling, it would be in the best interest of the offense to go no huddle for most of the game. Most of the better defenses have issues stopping it and while good, the Falcons defense has trouble with it. As someone has said, Sam Bradford is no Drew Brees, but what's the harm of him of him trying to be him for one day. If he has 80% of the success that Brees had last week, we'll win based on our (hopefully) better defense than the Saints.
Our #55 better be zeroed in on their #39. I expect him to have his best game of the season this week with about 10 tackles and an interception (of a attempted pass to Sjax). We KNOW SJax, and should know everything to stop him. So just do it DEFENSE. Ryan will get his, but stopping the YAC also will be the key to winning this week.
