Rams vs. Falcons Matchup by Stats

Another huge game looms on the horizon for the St. Louis Rams this Sunday at 1:00 PM!

As we try to scratch our way up the Power Rankings and become relevant this game is a "Must Win!" In fact every game we play this season will be a must win in order to make the play-offs.

The odds makers have Atlanta listed as a seven point favorite at the current time. After looking at how the two teams compared stat wise from last week’s game(s…) I just don’t see anything that says we should be a seven point underdog.

I believe that Atlanta is so favorably chosen solely on popularity, and the perceived notion that with all of their big name players…..they just cannot possibly lose this game. Having gone over the game threads and comments, Atlanta has some serious deficiencies.

Their biggest concern is how the Saints mediocre pass rushers had a field day attacking Matt Ryan. Certainly the Rams will bring a higher caliber of pass rush expertise… and unless the Falcons tightened up their O-Line it’s hard to believe Ryan having much time to do anything long.

So take a look at the stats and you’ll see that we actually match up to what Atlanta was able to do last week. Does that mean that they had a bad day and look out? Who knows on any given Sunday but I believe it’s going to be hard for them to magically mend the holes in their offensive line in one week.

So take a look at the stats and you will see it should be another nail-bitter game. We need to reduce the penalties, have a great day from every group if we want to win this one. It would be great to go 2-0 and win our first road game. I would love to see how the media would handle that little bit of news.

Favorable Match-Up:

We need to keep feeding the ball to our play makers. Mr. Lightening in a bottle (Tavon Austin) got his feet wet last week… so I’m hoping this is the week he pops his cork and does what he does best! Punt returns or going against Atlanta’s new Corner Backs. Jared Cook and Chris Givens are also dangerous and it might only take one or two big plays to change this game from a loss to a WIN!
