Rams 2013 Predictions

The preseason has come around in full swing and the Rams have had the opportunity to challenge the likes of the upstart Browns and the known commodity of The Packers . Although it may be to early to tell or maybe not , I've slowly gotten an idea of what the 2013 Rams are . The rams haven't looked horrible this far in the preseason but some of what I've seen so far in these first two games is scary . Last season the Rams defense was the suprise of the year for the team it wasn't stout but it's biggest asset was that it bended but didn't break and some might not see it but now that I've had time to realize it Craig Dahl may have been bad and Mikell was also decent but they weren't as bad as they seem . Dahl and Mikell: the two weakspots on the defense last year were actually the biggest examples of bending and not breaking they looked bad at times but they did just enough to come up clutch at times.

Last years preseason was also concerning as well we started off getting smashed by the colts and the cowboys first team put on a clinic against us too but we still were able to finish with a decent record. But some of what I've seen particularly from our youth and weak spots leads me to think we could be in for a setback this season. I loved our free agent moves (except for Jared Cooks contract) but compared to our amazing 2012 draft class the 2013 class left me with mixed opinions & concern for the future. In the draft process I too was high on Tavon Austib but latter in the process I came back to reality that Tavon Austin's a 5'8 receiver who ran decent not great routes while at Virginia . He's one of the shiftiest players of all time already but how much of that is going to translate to the nfl where the players are much faster ? So in short I was disappointed with the Austin pick let alone trading up for him , when I felt Hopkins , Woods, or Allen would've served us better. Another thing Ogletree so far is showing what I had expected in the predraft I was disappointed because I honestly saw nothing special about Ogletree but his athleticism but as a linebacker he was underwhelming against the run in college. I expected the rams to maybe go after a linemen around then. Next we have TJ McDonald... Let that sink in for a moment. I don't understand why he hasn't been getting bashed like Pead has because in practice I already saw the foreshadowing of what. I knew when the drafted him , TJ McDonald can't cover and can't wrap up . I've been to many Rams practices so far and I've sen McDonald on highlight after highlight reel . I don't know what Fisher was thinking with that pick . Ahhh only if we had gotten Swearinger or Elam.

As far as our biggest issues. I see the offensive line as still being one of the biggest issues that will continue to plague the team till fixed. Our line is bad at run blocking and were even worse at pass blocking. The depth is also shakier then last year we could really use some Turner magic right about now... Receiver I think will be greatly improved over last year but some some things I must get clear first , yes Tavon Austin is a rookie which means there will be struggles and I think he has great moves but as far as with routes no one could fool defenders in routes like amendola did who ran some of the best slot routes in the game , which I also think could hurt us this year missing that. If only Dola could stay healthy... Tight end.. Cook is huge I think out only reliable receiver this year will be givens so Cook will also have to step up , I'm hoping for those two to Cary the passing game alone , with some help. Safety... Safety this year is just scary as I've mentioned earlier the safeties we have currently are much worse then the combo of Dahl and Mikell last year. McDonald is a worse safety albeit still a rookie but yes playing worse then Dahl did , but at least he has time to improve, Stewart looks to be failing right now , it looks as if he's lost the coverage skills he excelled in back in 2011, we need to draft safety's next year write it down ! I won't go into detail on everything but that's the big jist of it.

With that I'll close out with my game by game predictions. I love my Rams and want to see a 10-6 season but if they don't step up there play then from what I've been seeing I could see a set back happening . Top 15 qbs gave us trouble last year and with two new downgrades at safety things could get ugly.. I should have to remind you of 45-7 and 30-13.

1. Arizona Cardinals- W (Rams win against an improved cardinals squad by a hair 21-17.)1-0 2. Atlanta Falcons- L (Rams will get a firsthand look at A top ten qb once again 35-14.) 1-13. Dallas Cowboys- L ( this game is certainly winnable but the talent of the Dallas receivers could overwhelm a young secondary 24-17.) 1-2 ) 4. San Fransico 49ers- W (the rams get back home and rebound against a team they haven't lost to in two seasons. )2-2) 5. Jacksonville Jaguars- W (With Blaine Gabbet at qb this one should be a easy choice 24-7 they improve to 3-2. 6. Houston Texans- L (the rams just simply are too young to compete with a team with veterans like Foster , Johnson and Watt, 28-10 , 3-3. 7.Carolina Panthers- W ( I expect this to be a game we should win the Pamthers don't have many weapons , 24-21, 4-3.) 8. Seattle Seahawks-L (Seattle looks to be the real deal early on and they can certainly do it without Percy Harvin, they get the Rams at home, 31-17 , 4-4. ) 9. Tennessee titans-W (Jake Locker is a horrible qb, 21-14, 5-4.) 10. Indianapolis Colts - L ( The colts gashed teams on offense last year and the same can certainly happen to a young defense in the rams , 28-24, 5-5. ) 12. Chicago Bears- L (The bears defense is a well oiled machine that keeps churning , 17-7, 5-6. ) 13. San Fransisco 49ers -L ( It's hard to basically sweep a team twice, 22-21, 5-7) 14. Arizona Cardinals- L (It's hard to side with the Rams beating the cardinals twice considering how bad we've looked so far , so Zona evens it up , 31-28, 5-8. ) New Orleans Saints- L (This game is winnable considering the defense of the Saints but once again considering how we do against elite quarterbacks things can get bad , 28-14, 5-9.) ) 16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- W (This was the Rams easiest game last year and I'm not buying the FA additions in Tampa , 28-17 , 6-9) 17. Seattle Seahawks - L ( We haven't won this game in 8 seasons we'll get it soon but not this season , 21-17, 6-10.

if the rams continue down the path there own a 6-10 season is certainly possible , and maybe even worse but lets hope the Rams best days are ahead of them in the regular season ! Comments concerns ? Go Rams !!
