Browns reviewing Bernie Kosar's comments during Rams game

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

This thing isn't just going to go away for the Browns broadcaster.

The Cleveland Browns are looking into the comments made by color commentator Bernie Kosar during Thursday night's broadcast of a Week 1 preseason game with the St. Louis Rams.

I'm not sure what there is to review. Kosar, the team's former quarterback, ripped into Kellen Clemens, the Rams' third-string quarterback, in the second half of the game broadcast. (You can listen to Kosar's comments about Clemens here). But he didn't stop there. He went after the receivers and receivers coach Ray Sherman.

Kosar called the Rams receivers "horrible," and told his partner in the booth that he would be "embarrassed" to be their parents. He added:

"I'm checking through the ‘itinerary' of coaches to see who the receivers coach is, to make sure I don't know who the guy is because he's not doing very good either."

Sherman took it all in stride, telling the Post-Dispatch:

"I don't worry about people like that. Hopefully, he'll get himself some help because evidently he's saying things that he really doesn't have any knowledge about. He doesn't know what the routes are; he doesn't know what guys are supposed to do."

Yes, there's a certain irony in Kosar advising parents to be embarrassed. His daughter's an "actress" in a, um, niche market.

Fisher addressed the situation on Saturday, taking Kosar to task.

We'll see what the Browns come up with in their review. Comments like that have no place in the broadcast booth.
