My name is Blaine Grisak and I am the best fit for this internship. Everybody has their dreams growing up as a kid, once I realized I wasnt going to be the next Joe Montana or Dan Marino, I switched my focus to journalism. I have always been a lover of sports, all sports. From football to tennis, I love them all. Journalism was the one place where I could express my love for sports to other fans just like me. I now have dreams to one day write for espn, as unrealistic as this goal may be I fully expect myself to achieve it, not only am I good enough to do it, but I want it more than anything in the world.
Everybody that applies for this internship is going to believe that they deserve it the most, and I'm no different, I believe I have put in the work to get this amazing opportunity. One thing that sets me apart from everybody else is the passion that I have for journalism. I grew up in the little town of Havre Montana, a place where once you are there you never leave and never get out. Me on the other hand had always wanted out as I knew I could never achieve anything that I wanted in that small town. To achieve what I wanted, to write for ESPN, I had to get into a bigger sports market. Therefore I am now attending Gwynedd Mercy College in Gwynedd Valley Pennsylvania. Here I am less than an hour away from Philadelphia, and 2,000 miles away from home. If going cross country to achieve your dream isnt passion and doesnt show drive, I dont know what does.
At Gwynedd Mercy College in the communications program I have taken classes that would qualify my for this position such as a journalism class, radio class, as well as a public relations class in which we wrote press releases. I have experience writing as I wrote for the Havre Daily News, the local paper, my senior year of high school, I wrote for my college paper my freshman year and will once again my sophomore year, I also wrote an article for an online paper called NewsWorks which is based in the Philadelphia area. Right now I am also the co-editor and social media director at Ramblin' Fan which is an online sports blog with the Fansided network. In this position I am required to write 30 blogs per month as well as keep up with the Facebook and Twitter pages. I believe I have the experience that is necessary for this internship.
I may not have experience in the mustache combing department, but other than that I believe I have what it takes. This internship would give me even more experience and open up more opportunities for me in the future that would help me reach my dream. This internship would mean the world to me, especially since it includes my favorite sports team, the St. Louis Rams. I think I have what it takes and I hope you do as well.
