A Tale of Two Corners

The NFC West is now known as the home of some of the NFL's top cornerbacks. Arizona's Patrick Peterson is a rising star and the St. Louis Rams' Janoris Jenkins showed some of his stripes last year as a rookie. The NFC West is also know for having two of the brashest corners in the game. Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks and Cortland Finnegan of the Rams. Both players are known as being two of the biggest trash talkers in the game and have a knack for getting under an opponents skin. The following two video links show probably the worst sides of the players on field action.

Here is an example of Richard Sherman during and after the Seahawks beat the Redskins in the playoffs last season. I don't know if I speak for everyone, but that was a little bit of a dirty move by Trent Williams but down deep I wish he would have connected just a little bit harder.

Here is an example of Cortland Finnegan during a regular season game against the Texans while Finnegan was still playing for Jeff Fisher with the Tennessee Titans.

From watching those videos you would think that Sherman and Finnegan were just a couple of jerks that you would want nothing to do with. Well my friends, that is where the similarities end.

Watch this video of Richard Sherman as a guest on ESPN's First Take. Makes you want to go through the TV screen and slap some sense into him. I know Skip Bayless has a knack for rubbing people the wrong way but I think Sherman crosses the line a bit too much.

Here is a video on ESPN's E:60 that features a side of Cortland Finnegan that not to many people knew about. Makes it a lot easier to root for the guy with the horns on his helmet doesn't it. Bottom line, I am curious to see how the "vaunted" Seahawks secondary fares against the Rams this year with the improved offensive line giving Sam Bradford time to find the likes of Chris Givens, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Stedman Bailey, Lance Kendricks, Brian Quick and our running backs coming out of the backfield. It's gonna be an interesting 2013 season. Go Rams!!!
