Random Ramsdom, 5/28: Looking for excitement at OTAs

David Welker

It's May, still, and that means one thing: OTAs. Yep.

Isaiah Pead wants a bigger role in 2013. A bigger role than the 10 carries he had last season? Come on. The offseason is a time for tried and true sports tropes.

Occasionally, 101 ESPN, currently the city's only sports talk radio station and business partner with the Rams, does something more than fill the metro area's bleak suburban office parks with shouting and "that's what I'm talking about." Randy Karraker's report from last week's OTAs, however, is a thing of beauty.

Here's how it starts:

There are always some interesting things to take out of an NFL team's organized team activities and minicamps.

Or maybe there isn't. Here's how it ends:

There's really nothing to take out of this for the layman.

Oh, gotcha. Now go away layman!

Stop with the make or break business. This year is going to be like any other for Sam Bradford, but with better players to work with and higher expectations on him to perform. Bernie has more on the year ahead for Sam. As for make or break, he can go right on collecting the windfall of his rookie contract for at least another year or two.

If you can't beat 'em ... that's probably what 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was thinking when he set aside some time from taking care of his turtles and getting tattoos to hang out with Rams TE Lance Kendricks and OT Rodger Saffold in Vegas this weekend.

Tony Softli tweet of the day:

Today we actually have two tweets from the man himself. I can't decide which one is more notable, so let's look at both.

The "Rams Championship Foundation" ... is the team starting another chartable venture to ingratiate itself with the community? Also "your." Spelling errors, random capitalizations, and exclamation points. If you have to explain Tony Softli to your friends and family, just show them this tweet.

On the other hand, "mountain Rainier" is pretty amazing.

Bonus Round

This is old cheese, but John Clayton farting on TV has no expiration date.
