The San Francisco 49ers suffered a blow, when their best wide receiver - Michael Crabtree - suffered a torn Achilles tendon during team OTAs. It's unknown how severe the injury is, or if Crabtree will miss the entire 2013 season. He's arguably the best wide receiver the 49ers have on their roster, so how the team will fill the void is going to be interesting to watch. Second year, 2012 first round draft pick A.J. Jenkins is waiting in the wings, as well as free agent Anquan Boldin.
The bottom line is, unless one of their stable of receivers step up, this offense may have some trouble. Mario Manningham is coming back from a knee injury, and though he and Collin Kaepernick seemed to have a good connection, I doubt he's going to be able to fill Crabtree's shoes. An intriguing player to watch could be 4th year wide receiver Kyle Williams. Much maligned in 2011, he has the talent to step in if the 49ers' fans will cut him some slack.
