I'm going to start this post by apologizing for making you guys do some reading, but I hope for those that don't know - or are not aware of what is in store for the NFL. Chip Kelly will revolutionize the game...
I read an article about Chip Kelly a few months back, and it dawned on me: He's going to change the game. It's already started and as teams catch on to WHAT THE PATRIOTS DO, the game will never be the same. Back in 2006 some astrophysicists created a computer program called "ZEUS." What Zeus does, and how it will be implemented, shall forever change football as we know it.
The key to running your team using Zeus is having versatile, fast players, and depth at the skill positions. The St. Louis Rams may just have the right pieces in place to take advantage of this strategy. I don't know many things about business, but I do know this: To be successful at whatever you do, you must take risks. There is no billionaire who never took a shot - who never gambled. Sometimes you lose, but the lifetime gains of smart people will always leave them on top. Jeff Fisher and Co, are very smart people. I would like to think - with our new personal groupings - we implement the Zeus way of life.
For those that are lazy and haven't read or fully understand what Zeus does, it takes a situation and runs a simulator 1 million times and gives you the percentage for each play you enter into the algorithm. It has certain tenets: the more plays you have on offense, the higher percentage chance you have of winning. It tells you that punting, kicking an extra point and kicking the ball off lower your chance of winning. It encourages going for 2 point conversions, onside kicks, and going for it on 4th down.
Chip Kelly is not a genius on the black board, but he is a smart believing in this strategy. The Zeus strategy will revolutionize the game. Can you imagine the Rams running 90 plays a game on offense? Calling a play every 5, or 10 seconds? Can you imagine how an NFL defense will be wore out trying to keep up with that pace? Now imagine that pace with the skill players we have. The part that's wonderful is it's a philosophy - a belief - so it can work into any offense. The west coast offense can run it; so can "Air Coryell". All a team needs is the playmakers, and we now have them.
