The Lesser of Two Evils: BPA vs NEEDS

Wide Receiver, Safety, Outside Linebacker, and potentially Guard and Running Back.

Those are our team needs going into this year's draft, and in the order they were written too. So with that said, what would you hope we do with our draft picks in the first and proceeding rounds? Do we draft the best players available, or do we fill needs?

Well I would hope that we draft the best player available to us at the time of our pick if we can't find a suitable trade opportunity. So if that means that in the first round say if Patterson and Austin are gone and still there for example are Star Letouleilei*, Sheldon Richardson or Jarvis Jones what would you want our team to do!? Reach for a receiver (because in my opinion the two aforementioned receivers are the only first round quality receivers) or do we draft the best player in the spot even if he plays in a spot like the d-line where it's viewed as a strength for the team.

I'd hope we take the best player there and even though offense is a huge need for this team, I can accept a fully defensive first round rather than just drafting for need. I think the first round is where you take the best player available, if that player just so happens to address a team need then great but I won't fret if he does not. From the second round to the seventh is where I believe it's okay to draft by need.

In the second round there are quality receivers who I would love to have on the Rams such as , Ryan Swope, Robert Woods, DeAndre Hopkins and Justin Hunter. And these players I can say, would come in and be effective maybe not as much as Austin or Patterson but mark my words the names I've mentioned will be getting a lot of mentions come time the season gets rolling on whichever teams they land on. And to those thinking we need a true number one receiver, I say wait for next year's draft. I have a sneaky suspicion that the Washington Redskins and RG III are going to tank and everyone besides us will realize who got the better deal in that draft pick swap. Remember I said it first! If Marquise Lee continues his work next year he will be our pick because I see him as next season's number one receiver.

P.S. Some might say we go OLine if WR isn't there to help out the offense, but I don't think that with the defensive minded coach we have along with his draft history that we will choose an OLineman ahead of a quality DTackle. Safe to say.

So that's my opinion, let me know what's yours. BPA or Necessity?
