I'm not a big draft guy, and I'd never heard of safety Cody Davis before the draft, but OH MY GOD!!!
This guy has a highlight clip of only his senior season that is literally 15 minutes of him maximizing every single play he's involved in (besides what they left out). Literally. Every ball that's at all catchable for him, he intercepts. Every ball there's a chance to break up but not catch, he gets a hand on it to break it up. Every time there's a tackle to be made, he makes it at the absolute farthest possible point back.
What can I say? He's perfect. There are no weaknesses on this tape. One of the best tacklers in college football, with speed. He even caught Tavon Austin in the backfield for a great tackle. Fantastic hands, will make the picks. Coverage you can't tell for sure from highlights that don't show the plays where the receiver catches it, but he looks good.
I just don't understand why he wasn't drafted, and if he isn't the Rams starting safety in 2013, I'll be extremely disappointed. And if the reason he didn't get drafted is he's out of shape (doesn't look like it in the video...) or injured or something, I still won't accept him getting cut. Whatever it takes, this guy needs to be signed long term. If he's out of shape or injured, you ride it out with him until he's back in shape or healthy again. If he's a locker room problem, you ride it out in the counselor's office with him until he's less of a jackass. Whatever it takes. He is the answer at safety for the next decade. What a player! The complete package. Could he be the best safety in the draft? He does EVERYTHING!
Please tell me he's making the team! Right? How do these undrafted signings work anyway?
