A lot of criticism will come from Rams
' first round actions in the NFL Draft. Fellow fans will try and place a value comparison between the player's talent vs pick number. I personally don't like grading out a college player based on limited data. I think the data is limited, because I haven't seen Tavon's or Ogletree's every game. Even if I had, I still would only know them under the scheme they ran in college. NFL is a different kind of animal, and I trust Fisher. I will say this though, both Tavon and Ogletree satisfied one of our needed positions on paper. We can grade them out at the end of their rookie season. We will probably start judging them from the 1st preseason game, and expectations for them will rise by mid-season. Nonetheless, our final grade can only come at the end of the season.
That being said, I would like to talk about where the Rams stand starting day 2 of the draft. We have two 3rd and 6th rounders, 4th and a 5th rounder. Our only major need is a safety. We could even use two. Beyond that: we could use another WR, another OLB, and maybe a CB for the future. Everyone says we need a starting LG, but we have plenty of guards, and we are not gonna find anyone better in the 3rd round. I predict that we draft a Safety with one, and after that Rams are in great postion to pick players based on talent/placement.
I have a good feeling that Snead is not done dealing just yet. I wouldn't be suprised if he moved up into round 2 or even squeezed another round 3 out of our draft picks if he sees value fall to his liking. There are a lot of players I am still interested in such as:
WR: Hunter, Allen, Williams, Patton, Bailey, Wheaton, Swope, and Dobson
OL: Watson, Armstead, Warford
S: Thomas, Rambo, Swearinger, McDonald, Cody Davis, Cyprien, Taylor
I personally feel that our off-season has been a success thus far. Please give us some mocking ideas for the rest of the draft.
Thank you for reading.
