Yes i am a homer, Yes I am biased, but if you hear me out and maybe i may convert some of you to this idea. If we draft Menelik Watson with the 22nd pick in the draft the positive ramifications out weigh the negative ones. We would be able to shop Roger Saffold to a team like Miami and pick up maybe 77, 82, or 111. These mid round picks hold alot of value for a team like us who have a few holes to fill. It would also allow us to possibly take Larry Warford at 46, and be able to release Harvey Dahl. Moving Dahl and Saffold would free up (correct me if i am wrong 1313) just under $5mil. It would give us a young, raw and powerful offensive line. It would give us the ability to we would end up with (2) first round picks (1) second round pick, (2-3) third round picks, (1-2) fourth round picks, (1) 5th, 6th and 7th round picks. Just think of all the wonderful players we all have mocked from rounds 3-5 where we could hold as many as 5 selections. We would also have the cap space to bring back Mikell and sign Daryl Smith. I am not convinced that Fisher is a believer in using a high draft pick on a linebacker, he only drafted 1 lb in the first or second round in his whole tenure in Ten, and that was Keith Bulluck pick 30. He had every chance to pick one last year and passed every time and then brought in free agents. We would be someone in the area of just over $9mil in cap space to address the rookies and free agents. That includes the money freed up by Chris Long and the releasing of Harvey Dahl and the trade of Saffold. I envision the Offensive line looking like Jake Long, Rok, Wells, Warford, Watson. It is scary to have a rookie right side, but by all accounts Warford is a mauler and I have no doubt that our staff would have Watson and Warford ready for week 1. I just realized how much fantasy and whimsy this must sound like, but it would accomplish several goals for us, get younger, get stronger up front and give us plenty of talent with the extra picks and money that would be afforded by my non realistic plan.
