Well, after watching so much film on every player you could name here it is my final mock draft. I think i've done a good job at predicting Draft picks recently in previous drafts last year my mock draft went pretty well I predicted about two or 3 picks, Janoris Jenkins in the second, and Chris Givens in the fourth. It went something like 1.6- Justin Blackmon 2A: Janoris Jenkins 2B: Devonn Still DT Penn State 3: Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss 4: Chris Givens WR Wake Forest lol after that I don't really remember but I know i missed on the rest of the picks... but here goes !
Dee Millner slides down to 16 because of medical concerns... TRADEDOWN ! The Atlanta Falcons trade there first and second round pick to grab him !
1.22Keenan Allen WR Cal: The tape never lies and behind a 4.7 forty (only because he's still recovering from a knee injury.) The tape shows Keenan Allen to be the best receiver in this years draft ! He's got red zone size, big play ability, elusive, a 4.55 guy on tape if not for injury concerns Keenan Allen would be a top 10 pick imo and he'd probably go off to the Bills I bet had he never gotten injured. It's a risk but this is a huge Boom or Bust pick.
1.30 (Via. Atlanta)- Matt Elam SS Florida- Like I've said I use most of my intel. for making picks directly from the tape but the combine and other things help too ! Matt Elam although passes the test in the combine as well as on field. He's one of the hardest hitting safeties anyones seen in quite some time comming out of college ! He can also cover he isn't in the box nearly as often as people often say, he switched roles playing the deep field with Josh Evans throughout games. He can cover he can tackle Elam warrants a higher selection than this but he's 5'10 which is where teams see problems.
2.46- Robert Woods WR USC- To most teams it would be a blessing for a once thought top 3 pick to fall on there laps at 46. Most people although wouldn't agree with this pick but the way I see it we lost our top two receivers last year, and it doesn't matter if we owe an allegiance or not too them. It's all about competition if they want to be on the field next year, than (Quick) and others will have to prove it. Not bringing in competition is a formula for failure in the NFL.We can't take the risk and assume Quick and Givens will have there issues patched up by next year, the offense must take that next step, but lets take a second to look at that receiving core.. 1.WR- Keenan Allen 2.WR- Brian Quick 1.SlotWR- Robert Woods 2.SlotWR- Chris Givens 3.WR- Austin Pettis ! Man that's a sick receiving core...
2.60- Bacarri Rambo FS Georgia- Bacarri Rambo to the rams in the third seems to be a consensus among Rams fans, but the thing is that if we see Rambo as a consensus in the third round teams picking earlier might have that same opinion. Grabbing Rambo right before the third could pay dividends in creating a rediculously stacked secondary LCB: Janoris Jenkins RCB: Cortland Finnegan FS: Bacarri Rambo SS: Matt Elam
3.78- Gerald Hodges SOLB Penn State- Many mockers have predicted Ogletree to the Rams at 16 or 22 but after watching the film he's just not worth that and is easily overhyped. Hodges on the other hand is one of those players who will probably end up outplaying most of the LB's selected before him look him up if you haven't ! He's about as stout as they get in a OLB.
4.110- Chris Faulk OT LSU- The Rams have a big problem at offensive tackle, they have two guys who are known for being unable to stay on the field at both spots, but Chris Faulk could come as a steal because he was once projected to be a late first round pick until an ACL tear, Rodger Saffold could be gone next year and if Chris Faulk can play like a first round pick when given the oppurtunity he could be a replacement or valuable depth.
5.142- Ace Sanders WR/KR S.CAR- Ace Sanders is the best return man to come out of college possibly since Devin Hester, the rams have shown alot of interest in him, and he could also be used as a poor mans Tavon Austin. sanders or Denard Robinson are too picks i see being made here.
6.174- Cierre Wood RB ND- I just recently started watching Cierre Wood and thought this guy looked like a future steal LOOK HIM UP , he's always breaking off some sort of big run, in his highlights he could be a franchise back steal in the 6th rounds.. Wood's oppurtunities have been limited due to being in a 3 back system, with fellow NFL prospects Theor Riddick and George Atkinson.
7. Mario Benavides C Louisville- Benavides looks solid on tape had good game against Sly Williams, and Florida ! He could be a solid pickup here and could possibly do a good job at center taking up Robert Turner's spot as the ,man waiting in the wings for when Well's goes down.
Overall, the Rams of course will go in a different direction which happens with all mocks, but maybe a few of these picks I could possibly hit on maybe ? I'd be happy with atleast one ! Overall for me personally this years draft was harder than last years to mock because the Rams have so much more flexibility this year ! Overall in my mock if there was one thing I wish I could go back and fix was getting a starting OG but I felt receiver help was a dire need, but than again we don't have any lineman that are all that good at opening holes.. Questions ? Opinions ? Concerns ?
