Just over 24 hours, and let me tell you, I can't wait. The last few mock drafts are trickling out as the experts get one last shot at predicting what will happen on Thursday night. Todd McShay and Mel Kiper rolled out new mock draftsfollowing the Darrelle Revis trade. Let's check, briefly, to what they had to say about the St. Louis Rams.
No. 16 - Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
No. 22 - Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
Huh? Okay, I'm on board with the Vaccaro pick. Tavon Austin is off the board, and the draft's best safety is a solid get at that point in the draft. I wonder if he'll go higher than anticipated? Maybe not since the safety class seems to be fairly deep. And yeah, the Lacy pick ... no thanks. I'm fine with the Rams drafting Lacy, but not with the 22nd pick, not when they need receivers.
No. 16 - Tavon Austin, WR, WVU
No. 22 - Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
Now, this is a first round that I could live with, "live with" being a bit of an understatement. It's hard to overstate what kind of impact a safety of that caliber would have on the Rams defense. Austin is the high-end replacement for Danny Amendola, as Kiper notes. He can't be any more injury prone than Amendola either.
