The St. Louis Rams hold the 16th and 22nd pick in the first round of this years NFL Draft. At this point in the draft process we have all read countless rumors, mock drafts, and debates concerning who the Rams will select. However, until the commissioner reads the card (or twitter leaks it), we wont know who the Rams will choose. What we can do, is take a look at the history of each pick.
Jeff Fisher has selected at #16 three times in his career. Those three picks resulted in Kevin Dyson, Jevon Kearse, and Derrick Morgan - not a bad haul. Does Jeff Fisher's previous selections offer us any insight into who the Rams will take? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to look.
Defensive End is the most common position selected with pick 16 and has been the selection the last three years. Unfortunately, defensive end is not a need for the Rams so that streak will likely end.
Overall, the 16th pick of the draft has produced some accomplished players.
The Rams get to choose who will join this group, and hopefully they end up closer to the Polamalu/Kearse end of the spectrum.
