Which teams will have the biggest impact on the first round?

The Chiefs, Dolphins, Browns, Jets, Rams, Vikings, and Niners... These are the teams that I feel have the best chance to put their stamp on the first round of this year's draft.

The Chiefs have the first overall pick, but that's not really why they'll drive how this draft unfolds. Their biggest impact on the first round will be determined by whether or not they trade Brandon Albert. If they deal Albert it will be before the draft - if he's still on their roster when the draft starts and they choose Joeckel or Fisher anyway it will really damage their leverage in any trades they try to make. So it comes down to trading Albert before the draft starts. The Chiefs are asking for a 2nd rounder in this year's draft in exchange for Albert. If they don't trade him I believe they will go defense with the first pick, putting into motion a scenario that will see all three OT's gone before the 7th pick. If the Chiefs do deal Albert, they will obviously take Joeckel or Fisher #1, and that will leave only two remaining OT's for teams in the top 10 to consider. Oddly enough, if the Chiefs trade Albert to Miami and take a LT #1, it actually improves the Cardinals chances of having a LT fall to them at #7. More on that in a bit. The Dolphins are reportedly talking to Albert's people and are the team most likely to make a trade for him. Speaking of the Dolphins...

The Dolphins will have a big impact in the first round in two ways. One, if they trade for Albert they allow the Chiefs to take a LT #1 overall and in an odd twist actually make it more likely that one of the two remaining LT's make it to the Cardinals spot at #7. This will also limit Cleveland's best chance to move back. Second, if they don't trade for Albert, they will be the team most likely to move up to Cleveland's spot at #6 to grab whichever LT falls to that spot, thus stealing a LT from the Cardinals. They are the most likely team to move up because they have an extra 2nd round pick that they can give to the Chiefs for Albert, while other LT needy teams like the Chargers do not.

The Browns make the list because they are in the potential "sweet spot" in the top 10 with their 6th overall pick. Miami will want to jump Arizona to grab the LT that falls to #6, but of course that is dependent on the Dolphins not making a trade for Albert and then needing to trade in front of the Cradinals.

The Jets make the list because of their "pending" trade of Darelle Revis to the Bucs for their first rounder (#13 overall). That would give the Jets two picks out of the first 13, allowing them to go in a few different directions.

The Rams and Vikings are on the list because they each own a pair of first round picks. The talk is that the Vikings are looking to trade up - Maybe to #16? Either way, having two picks means major impact on the first round.

The Niners are on the list because they have so many draft picks this year that they have the draft capital to trade up well into the first round if there's a player they really like. In fact, they almost have to trade some of those picks as they have a very talented team, and those roster spots will be very hard to come by. It makes more sense for them to package some of their picks to move up and get a player they think can make a real impact on their team, rather than to sit back and draft a bunch of players that probably won't be able to make the roster.

So, how does it all play out? Who knows! There are a myriad of scenarios! But I'll present a couple of scenarios below based on the Chiefs trading / not trading Albert to the Dolphins. I'll throw in a few other potential trades for fun as well, and some of them are actually rumored to be possible - which means they probably won't happen :)

Scenario #1: Chiefs do not trade Albert.

1 - Chiefs - Dion Jordan - switching to 3-4 defense, need OLB on right side to compliment Kruger
2 - Jags - Ziggy Ansah - Can play DE, DT
3 - Raiders - Sharrif Floyd - Raiders need a lot of help, Floyd provides it along D-line that is very thin
4 - Eagles - Luke Joeckel - Can't pass up best LT available here, especially with Peters coming off achilles injury
5 - Lions - Eric Fisher - Need a OT to replace the retired Jeff Backus (currently have only 2 OT's on roster)
6 - Dolphins (from Browns) - Lane Johnson - Need a LT to protect franchise QB so he can get the ball to Wallace
7 - Cardinals - Barkevious Mingo - With the OT's gone, take the athletic 3-4 OLB
8 - Bills - Chance Warmack - Bills need to fill hole left by departure of Andy Levitre
9 - Jets - Jarvis Jones - Best pass rusher falls here and Jets are actually smart enough to take him
10 - Titans - Star Lotulelei - Titans need to shore up horrible run D
11 - Chargers - Johnathan Cooper - Couldn't get the LT they needed, but upgrade interior of O-line big-time
12 - Browns - Dee Milliner - Trade back and still get CB considered best in draft by most
13 - Jets (from Bucs) - Xavier Rhodes - Have to fill void left by trading away Revis - now have two big CB's
14 - Panthers - Sheldon Richardson - Instant upgrade to poor interior D-line
15 - Saints - Kenny Vaccaro - Historically bad defense gets athletic safety considered best in draft by most
16 - Vikings (from Rams) - Cordarrelle Patterson - Looking to trade in front of Steelers, Rams willing trade partner
17 - Steelers - Tyler Eifert - Consolation prize for missing Patterson - big target for Big Ben
18 - Cowboys - Sly Williams - Switching to 4-3 "Tampa-2" and need DT's for 4 man front
19 - Giants - Desmond Trufant - Toss-up between needs at LB and CB - Trufant too good to pass on
20 - Bears - DJ Fluker - Overhaul of O-line almost complete
21 - 49ers (from Bengals) - Tavon Austin - Harbaugh wants a new toy that he can use to create mismatches
22 - Rams - John Cyprien - Big, physical safety with range adds talent to already talented young secondary
23 - Rams (from Vikings) - Alec Ogletree - Can't pass on chance to solidify LB corps
24 - Colts - John Jenkins - Need some more beef on the Nose in 3-4 defense
25 - Vikings - Manti Te'o - The love affair with ND players continues in the Twin Cities
26 - Packers - Menelik Watson - Have to try to keep Rodgers upright to take full advantage of talented WR corps
27 - Texans - Robert Woods - Compliment to aging Andre Johnson
28 - Broncos - Kevin Minter - Fills gaping hole at MLB
29 - Patriots - Matt Elam - Can be deployed as "seek and destroy" player in needy secondary
30 - Falcons - Jamar Taylor - Need to replace hole in secondary created by departure of Grimes and Robinson
31 - Bengals (from 49ers) - Eddie Lacy - Adds needed boost to lackluster running game
32 - Ravens - Keenan Allen - Replacement for Anquan Boldin, the player he best compares to

Scenario #2: Chiefs trade Albert to Dolphins.

1 - Chiefs - Luke Joeckel - With Albert gone they take #1 LT
2 - Jags - Ziggy Ansah
3 - Raiders - Sharrif Floyd
4 - Eagles - Dion Jordan - With best LT off the board they nab 3-4 OLB to help in switch from 4-3
5 - Lions - Eric Fisher
6 - Browns - Dee Milliner - CB to pair with Joe Haden
7 - Cardinals - Lane Johnson - Thanks to Albert trade, Johnson falls to the Cards here
8 - Bills - Chance Warmack
9 - Jets - Barkevious Mingo - Rex Ryan happy to have real pass rusher from OLB spot
10 - Titans - Star Lotulelei
11 - Chargers - Jarvis Jones - Can't pass on best pass rusher
12 - Dolphins - Xavier Rhodes - Fills gaping hole at CB
13 - Jets (from Bucs) - Desmond Trufant - Have to replace Revis
14 - Panthers - Sheldon Richardson
15 - Saints - Kenny Vaccaro
16 - Vikings (from Rams) - Cordarrelle Patterson
17 - Steelers - Tyler Eifert
18 - Cowboys - Johnathan Cooper - O-line is a mess - Cooper is a gift here
19 - Giants - Alec Ogletree - Top CB's gone, so fix other area of great need
20 - Bears - DJ Fluker
21 - 49ers (from Bengals) - Tavon Austin
22 - Rams - John Cyprien
23 - Rams (from Vikings) - Menelik Watson - RT to replace Saffold after 2013 season
24 - Colts - John Jenkins
25 - Vikings - Manti Te'o
26 - Jags (from Packers) - EJ Manuel - Jags need QB help and they are high on Manuel
27 - Texans - Robert Woods
28 - Broncos - Sly Williams - Fortifies D-line
29 - Patriots - Matt Elam
30 - Falcons - Kevin Minter - MLB they need to help shore up the middle of their defense
31 - Bengals (from 49ers) - Eddie Lacy
32 - Ravens - Keenan Allen
