The St. Louis Rams have another visit lined up with one of the top prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft. Tavon Austin will be in town next week, part of his almost league-wide tour ahead of April 25. It is yet another sign that the Rams are very seriously considering the possibility of using an early pick to shore up a depleted wide receiver group.
Only the Browns pick ahead of the Rams, from the teams listed there. Of course, There are no shortage of teams interested in Austin, and any one of the others could always trade up to get him. The over/under on where Austin will go is No. 15 in the first round. The Rams might have a chance to snag him at a No. 16, or they might be more interested in offers to move down.
I don't know. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN, YOU GUYS.
I happen to reside in that camp that thinks Austin would be an incredible addition for the Rams. He was my pick in the SB Nation NFL blogger mock draft at No. 16.
Austin's playmaking ability is incredible, second to none in this draft. Tennessee's Cordarrelle Patterson has some of those same skills, as well as more size to him, but he's raw and would take some adjustment time. Of course, it's not that Austin wouldn't face a learning curve himself, but his route running skills would help make for a greater impact from the start.
How about you? Does Austin make sense for the Rams? How do you see his fit here?
