As we all know, the RB position is a big "?" going into this next year. With Steven Jackson gone, we are left with Pead, Rich and Ganaway. Many mock drafts have us taking Lacy with our 22nd pick. I personally believe Lacy is not worth that pick and is overrated due to him having an all-american Oline. Don't get me wrong, he is a good back, but not 1st round good. This years draft contains a very good selection of RB. My personal favorite? Marcus Lattimore.
As we all know, he suffered back to back knee injuries with SC. His 2nd one being gruesome. Many thought his football career was over. Many, however, don't know much about the injury he sustained. He tore 3 ligaments in his knee and dislocated it. In the video you can actually see his knee pop back into place. It looked bad, but it could have been far worse. Miraculously, no nerves were damaged. If he had injured a nerve, he might have lost his leg.
His injury is not as bad as you think. For those who saw his pro day know he has recovered quite well in 5 months. Ligaments heal, it just takes time and dedication. I know this because I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my ankle playing basketball. Took me about 5 months to get it back to strength, but It is 100% now. He will come back strong. The main risk is if he can stay healthy. However, if you look at those injuries, I dont think anyone would have came out uninjured.
That being said, I think the rams should draft him if he is there in the 3rd-4th round. He is a big back at 6' and 221 lbs. He is complete back that is willing to block in the pass. He can catch and turn up field. His upside outweighs his risk in my opinion and he is easily the top 3 RB in this draft when healthy. If we can grab him, I think he will be a steal.
We already have 2 small and quick RBs. I believe Pead will get more playing time this year possibly even start. If Lattimore comes, we would have a very good 1-2 punch. Of course this is my opinion, but the stats dont lie. Lattimore produced at SC and when healthy, he is possibly the best RB in this draft.
