Gamesmanship

Chess is the best game of logic and strategy, because it is applicable to every thing in life, for those who are not familiar with the finer points of the game, you control the game by manipulating the other player to move their piece to where you want them to move their piece. This is done by placing your piece in a strategic manner either by telegraphing your move, or by decept and bluffs, The end game is when you have manipulated them into doing exactly what you want them to do. The draft is the same way. We talk up a certain prospect for a few reasons, maybe we like them, maybe they fit what we are trying to do, but more then likely it is to see what teams also have a desire for that player and hopefully that team has a pick below us and if they truly covet said prospect have to move in front of us. There is a reason why the niners do what they do, talkin to Austin, Patton. This shows me one glaring thing, they are more concerned with us then they are at what Seattle does, and why we talk to Eddie Lacey and the other players we scratch our heads about. Look who drafts between our 16 and our 22 picks, if we can get one of those teams to show their hand that makes our draft day that much easier, do we need Eddie Lacey not as much as maybe the Steelers (17) Cowboys (18) and bungles (21), So if we show interest for him and more then 1 of those teams flinch, well then our pick becomes more valuable, giving us more leverage in a possible trade. Yes the phones are ringing all around the league, no we shouldn't believe anything that is being said right now since it is all being done as the GMs jostle for leverage amongst each other. We are not the only team that does this, we are not alone, it is a high stakes game going on between billionaires and we are hooked on the every report that comes out, Every phone call that is made. Is it worth it for a Billionaire to spend money to feign interest so another billionaire suspects we are interested? This is the main reason why the NFL is thevbest sport in the US, the games that go on off the field year round are almost as exciting as the games that are played during the season.
