Mocking A Realistic Mock (Updated List)

As I see more and more mocks, including my own, I started to wonder how everyone makes their choices when making a mock draft. This got me thinking how to make the most realistic mock without just throwing a bunch of guys names out there and making them stick. Seeing the predraft visits from last year got me thinking further. The Rams had a predraft visit with their first 3 picks last year (Brockers, Quick, & Jenkins). They also had a visit with 4th rounder Chris Givens. 3rd rounder Tru Johnson was a know commodity to Fisher and his son from college.

So what does all this have to do with the Rams 2013 draft? We already have a list of 30 predraft visits for this year. I believe Fisher sticks to the same plan as last year with his evaluation process. I also believe we see 3-5 players from that list that will be Rams in 2013.

The first thing that stood out to me was there are only 3 WRs on the list and none fit our draft position in the first 2 rounds, barring a trade down. The 2nd thing was how the only 1st round offensive players on the list are OTs. With the Jake Long signing I'm not sure they go OT in the 1st. Saffold could be re-signed next year and if not they could draft the OT next year. Also there are a couple late round OL on the list and that's more Fishers style. 19 of the 30 prospects on the list are defense. This make me think we will be seeing defense early and often in the draft.

So here's the list:

TJ Moe, WR, Missouri

Robert Woods, WR, USC (PRI)

Ezekiel Ansah, DL, BYU (SR)

David Bass, DL, Missouri Western (PRI)

Xavier Brewer, CB, Clemson (EW)

Sanders Commings, DB, Georgia (VINT)

Brandon Williams DT, Southern Missouri

I attached a mock of my own using strictly the prospects from the list. This was actually one

of the easier mocks I have done, kinda using the list as a big board. I was kinda surprised at the finished mock because though the first 3 picks are defense I was still happy with the results. Offense needs a WR, RB, and oline depth, and the defense just got to top 5-10 with the re-signing of Mikell.

1A. Sheldon Richardson DT

1B. Alec Ogletree OLB

2. Blindi Wreh-Wilson CB

3. Quinton Patton WR

4. Andre Ellington RB

5. Sanders Commings S/CB

6. Xavier Nixon OT

7. Earl Watford OG

I think it'd be fun to see how your mock would look using the same list(no trades). So have at it and let me know your thoughts in the comments section. This is all in fun. Thanks for the read!!!
