As we slowly edge closer to the NFL draft in April, big boards, mock drafts and everything related take complete 180 degree turns with each passing moment. As fans, we hope and expect our favorite teams to make all of the right decisions. To place our team in the best position for the future. The off-season is long though, and we starving fans need something to satisfy our hunger as we gradually approach the new NFL season.
So we search the internet. Anything to give us the gratification we need, that with a few moves here or there the team would be that much closer to a Lombardi trophy. Creating our own mocks even, akin to what we believe would be best for the team, and what we expect the head of the organization to do once that special time comes.
Though it never turns out the way.
Since it doesn't, I'd like to throw out something that likely won't happen, but something worth pondering about...
What if the the Rams draft two WR's in the first round?
I know, I know...the Rams have too many holes to fill, this class is deep at wide receiver yada yada, but let's take a moment to think about it.
Tavon Austin and Cordarelle Patterson are both arguably the best wide receivers in this class, so we'll use them for this example.
Can you imagine the nightmares teams would have with Austin coming out the backfield, Givens stretching the field from the slot, with Patterson and Quick (if he develops) working the outside? How about Austin and Cook in the slot, with both Givens and Patterson working the outside with Pead in the backfield? The possibilities are endless and the Rams would become an absolute match-up nightmare on offense.
With Jake Long finally in blue & gold, the line should be solid enough to give Sam the time he needs in order to sling the rock around the entire field.
Give him two more play-makers such as Austin and Patterson and I believe Sam's a happy man...
