It was just reported on ESPN radio that the Patroits had a response to the Welker-Broncos signing. Shortly after their WR agreed to a two year deal with the Bronco's, the Pats reached a 5 year, $31 million (only $10 mil guaranteed) with Amendola. The ex-Ram was often referred to the poor man's Welker. That is now true in every sense of the statement. Welker was not willing to stick around for $5 mil a year, consequently the Pats sign a younger version of their slot receiver. Maybe Danny realized that lining up with Brady at QB would do wonders to his career. Maybe they were not impressed with the markets underbidding for the WR's not name Mike Wallace.
