This is my first fanpost and I suck at writing so go easy on me. The Chiefs, Jags, and Raiders all have good LTs. All three teams obviously have huge needs at multiple positions. Last season teams were in a bidding war to trade up to get RGIII so the Rams made out like bandits. This year it could be completely different. The top three teams could be in a bidding war to trade down. No team is better positioned to trade up this year’s draft than our Rams. Rams could move up and get Joeckel for our 16th and 22nd – and maybe a fifth this year or fourth next year. This year is a completely different market (draft) and we should expect the price of business to change. NFL drafts are just like any other market. The price of a non cash flow producing asset is worth what someone is willing to pay. There is no intrinsic value. Luck and RGIII, however, were very different. They are players that could produce cash flow in the form of advertising, merchandise and ticket sales. The reality is that Luck and RGIII were worth much more than any player in this years draft. You can take the quant algorithms and draft value matrix and throw them in the trash. Ten years ago I paid $400 per ounce to purchase an ounce of gold that I sold last year for $1,700 - same asset, different market. Can the Rams take advantage of the current market and strike gold two years in a row? Impossible?
