Iv seen a lot of arguments on whether a guard is worth a first round pick. Many people believe guard is not one, others disagree. What i decided to do is get an average of how many first round picked players each team has and have people decide what positions they would use their picks on. Since I am in college and do not have enough time to look at every team's roster, what i did was take a sample. I took numbers from:
- the last two teams picking
- the first two teams picking
- the middle three teams picking
Those teams were
The Baltimore Ravens: 8 players
The San Francisco 49ers- 15 players
The Kansas City Chiefs- 8 players
The Jacksonville Jaguars- 5 players
The New Orleans Saints- 6 players
The St. Louis Rams- 5 players
The Pittsburgh Steelers- 11 players
That totals 58 first round players or about 8 a team. There are 53 men on the roster, so the 8 players make up only about 15% of the roster.
So my question is if you were building a team what positions would you use 8 first round picks on?
My choices would be
QB, LT, WR, WR, DE, DE, DT, CB
