2013 Mock Draft Picked By Any & All TST Fans - pick #23

With the twenty-second pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the St. Louis Rams select Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee.

Next we address the 23rd pick in the draft - The Minnesota Vikings are on the clock.

#23 Minnesota Vikings. Needs - WR, CB, DT. The Vikings were the Adrian Peterson show in 2012. Just like Eric Dickerson with the Rams in the 80's, AP was the Vikings offense. Everybody knew it, but they couldn't stop him. To that effect the Vikings finished with the 2nd best rushing offense in the NFL, and averaged an NFL best 5.4 yards per carry. The pass offense was at the opposite end of the spectrum, finishing a pathetic 31st in the League. The Vikings did manage to finish in the upper half of the League in scoring (14th), averaging a respectable 23.7 points per game. The O-line did a decent job in pass protection, finishing 11th in sacks allowed with 32 given up for the year.

Minnesota's defense was respectable, finishing tied for 5th in sacks with 44, 11th against the run, and tied with the Rams at 14th in the NFL in points allowed per game (21.8). They weren't so successful against the pass, finishing 24th. But it was an improvement over 2011. The Vikings also came up with 22 takeaways on defense, resulting in a very symmetrical ranking of 22nd in the NFL in that category.

The Vikings need help at WR. Kyle Rudolph is an excellent option at TE, but Percy Harvin is pretty much it as far as WRs go, and he's hurt all of the time. Harvin wants out of Minnesota as well, so the need for a WR is high. Minnesota needs to continue the overhaul of their secondary that they started last year. Antoine Winfield will be 36 this summer, and he's their best CB, so a top prospect at CB should be considered here. DT Kevin Williams turns 33 this summer, so they need to look at finding his successor as well. They need a MLB too. Which way do they go?
