I just visited Walter football and saw that with the Rams 3rd round pick they went with David Amerson. Amerson was one of the most dynamic CB's in the 2011 season with 13 interception. His stock has no dropped to the 3rd round do to the fact that he ended this season with only 5 Picks. My question is should the Rams use a 3rd for this man? I think the only way this can happen is if he is drafted to play FS. The Rams already a good group of corners and going with another in the third would not address our biggest needs. I think Amerson could adapt to the FS position very well because with nearly 20 picks in 2 season it's not hard to realize that he is a ball hawk but after watching game film I've come to the conclusion that he is just not great in man coverage. What he seems to have a special talent for is playing the zone. Bellow are highlights of his thirteen 2011 interceptions.

After watching this it seems like every play he makes is coming off some sort of zone coverage and with his size he has the ability to cut off a lot off passing angles. He also has good leaping ability allowing him to cover even more ground. Last season the Rams liked to play with one safety in the box and one normally in coverage. Amerson is not an in the box safety. To me he compares to Philip Thomas with better size. They question is would you use a 3rd round pick on Amerson?
