Fisher vs. Elite Divison

First things first. This isn't a chicken little mentality, and I will root for anyone and everyone employed by this team for as long as they are here. This is something I have been thinking about (more so before our upset win against NO) for a while.

One of the biggest criticisms when Jeff Fisher was hired was his nearly .500 record. Those who defended the hire pointed to Fisher and his Titans having to face Peyton Manning and the Colts twice a season. At the time, I thought that the ownership situation in Nashville was dysfunctional to say the least. And I believe that good ownership is an essential ingredient to having a Super Bowl caliber team. I thought our ownership with Stan was leaps and bounds ahead of Tennessee.

That being said, what happens if San Francisco and Seattle have both figured out how to have sustained success, and will be top 5-8 teams for the next decade. Do we give Fisher a pass if he is a .500 coach in 3 years because the division is so tough?

Your thoughts always appreciated.
