Well it's safe to say that I'm no friend of the Rams Assistant coaches. So, allow me to take a quote from a great American, Jon Taffer, from Spike TV's, Bar Resue, " I don't embrace excuses. I embrace solutions.". We all know it's really easy to point fingers, but it's easier to look for solutions.
This year we finally have a successful college coach turning around a NFL team. Chip Kelly, the ex-Oregon Duck coach has done a masterful job with the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm thinking that Chip's presence has actually started to break-up the "Ole Boys" club of NFL coaches, who each year are discarded, polished off, and finally buffed up after a small hiatus. Coaches are even demoted for a year or two and reprimanded, but eventually see the head coaching spotlight again.
Chip Kelly's success has been thought to be based on detail, routine, and constant improvement. Considered by many to be very progressive. Progressive in that his offenses are often considered a living and breathing organism that morphs and grows depending on it's opposition. This is the same technique that seems to work extremely well in New England.
Thankfully, I whole heatedly believe that if enough of us can get one voice together we can influence Ram fans to take a stand and demand excellence instead of nepotism and brainless groupies. Hopefully, with one voice we can make even the reporters take notice and appeal our suggestions to the real powers that be: Les, Jeff , and maybe even Stan!
I am proposing that we start searching for our next offensive coordinators, my fellow Ram Fans. Today I would like to start the assistant coaching search and discussion. Listed below are some potential candidates. These gentlemen are from a quick search but I'm eager to here your suggestions!
(It's easy to consider Gary Kubiak but I'm afraid he might die on the sideline so I hope he chooses to become an analyst on TV.)
- Chad Morris - Clemson Offensive Coordinator
- Shannon Dawson, West Virginia Offensive Coordinator
- Rick Dennison - Houston Texans Offensive Coordinator
- Frank Cignetti Jr. St. Louis Rams Quarterbacks Coach
- Josh Heupel Oklahoma Sooners Offensive Coordinator
