Tampa Rams Midseason Mock v1.0

I meant to post this a few weeks ago but have been a little busy(and lazy), but i am kind of glad i waited, as i have changed a couple things this past week.

Not gonna get into coaching changes or FA at this point, maybe will save those thoughts for the offseason.

So lets begin this magic show of awesomeness!!!!!!(kinda long btw)

Trades!!!! Yes i said it, TRADES!!!!!!!!!

Simple trades since mocking trades are not easy.

Trade #1 - We trade back our first pick a bit to the Browns for their 1st, a 3rd and a future 1st.(They really want a blue-chip QB prospect)

Trade #2 - Trade our first round pick from the Browns to the Jets for their 1st round pick, and a 2nd round pick.

Trade #3 - Trade our first 2nd rounder back with the Cowboys for their 2nd and a 5th.

Simple enough right? Still with me? good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's get to the picks!!

1.1
Ra'Shede Hageman
Defensive Tackle, Minnesota
6'6 311 lbs

Rashede-hageman_medium

via maizeandgoblue.com

2010 - 1 solo tackle, 4 ast tackles
2011 - 10 solo tackles, 5 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 FF
2012 - 20 solo tackles, 35 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1 FF, 6 sacks, 2 PBU
2013 - 20 solo tackles, 32 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 int, 7 PBU, 2 blocked kicks/punts

Hageman is an absolute beast!!! Great against the run and the pass. He is still a little Raw, having been recruited as a tight end, and so still is a little bit inconsistent at times, but the talent is there and Fisher will turn him into a future stud. His story is a lot like Michael Oher's.

Jason Verrett
Cornerback, TCU
5'10, 178 lbs

via www3.pictures.zimbio.com

2011 - 40 solo tackles, 58 total tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 int, 5 passes defended
2012 - 46 solo tackles, 63 total tackles, 5 TFL, 6 int's, 22 passes defended
2013 - 30 solo tackles, 38 total tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 int's, 12 passes defended, 1 sack

Jason "Predator" Verrett is a stud. Some will look at his size and look down on him(nice pun right?), but he plays bigger than he is. He might not have great size or bulk, but he’s an exceptional athlete who features top-notch instincts. Verrett is so fluid with his movements that receivers have a difficult time creating separation. His impact on the game is enhanced by his excellent ball skills which helps him generate turnovers. He is basically the same size as Finnegan(who he will replace), just weighs about 5 lbs less. He will come in and do what Finnegan was supposed to do and become an elite slot corner for us. One of 15 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe award.

2011 - 31 solo tackles, 43 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 int's, 7 passes defended, 2 FF
2012 - 52 solo tackles, 100 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 int's 5 FF
2013 - 40 solo tackles, 57 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 3 int's, 2 FF

Pryor is a prospect i really love. His game against Rutgers was better than any i had seen from Clinton-Dix, and i watched every video i could find from both players. His game against Rutgers was the best he has played, and shows the potential he has and plays he can make. Pryor might declare or might stay in school. There was a rumor earlier in the year he was going to declare, though if he stayed for another year would have a good chance of being a first rounder next year.

Pryor is a hard hitting, ballhawking free safety who would give us a great and fierce safety tandem.

One of 15 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe award.

Denzel Perryman

6'0, 243 lbs

2011 - 47 solo tackles, 69 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 FF
2012 - 45 solo tackles, 64 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 1 int, 1 td, 1 FF
2013 - 45 solo tackles, 64 total tackles. 1 int, 6 tackles for loss, 1 FF, 2 passes broken up

Perryman is one of my favorite prospects in the entire draft. He is a ferocious hitting, tackling machine with great instincts and a non stop motor. Although has played moslty at ILB, he has the skills to play OLB as well. Tremendous against the run with great vision of breaking down the play, is also no slouche in coverage. UM has
churned out many great linebackers over the years, and Perryman is next in line. If the Rams feel RayRay will
eventually be Dunbars replacement, then this won't be the pick, but if they think RayRay won't ever be a true
starter, then this guy is my choice hands down.

Morgan Moses
Offensive Tackle, Virginia

Has played RT most of his career at RTbut has been moved to LT this year and has played well. Can play swing tackle for for us and potentially be a LT down the road if he improves in some areas and gets stronger. Moses is a great prospect who will give us great depth and has the potential to be a starter for us down the road or if one of our tackles is injured.

3.2
Pierre Desir
Cornerback, Lindenwood
6'1 205 lbs

via pbs.twimg.com

Desir is one of my favorite cb's in the country.

2012 - 60 total tackles, 9 int's, 9 passes broken up
2013 - 27 Solo tackles, 33 total tackles, 4 int's, 8 passes broken up, 1 FF

Pierre Desir is a Division II corner who was named AFCA All-American in 2012. He's taller and bigger than most corners, and he's just as fast, if not faster. He's very impressive when running with receivers, and it's routine for him to actually look like the receiver on a given play as he outruns the receiver. He has playmaking ability, great footwork, good speed and tremendous upside.

4.1
Jimmy Garoppolo
Quarterback, Eastern Illinois
6'3 222 lbs

131113130212-jimmy-garoppolo-p1-single-image-cut_medium

via i2.cdn.turner.com

2010 - 58.8%, 1,639 yards, 14 td's, 13 int's
2011 - 62.2%, 2,644 yards, 20 td's, 14 int's
2012 - 61.3%, 3,823 yards, 31 td's, 15 int's
2013 - 65.0%, 4,489 yards, 48 td's, 8 int's

Garoppolo has lit it up this year, and has gotten better every year since starting. Has a great arm and great vision for the field. Will challenge Clemens for the #2 QB and could be a starter down the road if it came down to it. Has a good chance to go earlier then round 4, but i will hold my breath and hope.

We have Black lightning, we have white thunder, now we have.....White Lightning. Reportedly has run a 4.3!!!! I think he is more of a low 4.4 guy, which is still very fast. Can compete with our wr corp for a slot or take over as a 5th wr or Pettis's slot if we trade him away.

2012 - 842 yards, 15 td's
2013 - 1089 yards, 15 td's
*Played at UGA in 2011

Had some off-field problems which caused him to leave UGA and transfer to Alabama State. Was named SEC freshman of the year in 2011. Since his transfer has kept his nose clean and been a beast for ASU. With the injuries that have to occurred to our starters and backup over the course of this year, I'd like to bring in another late round, talented RB. With him on our team, we would never have to worry again of Pead going in(i expect him gone), and we replace him with a back who can actually produce. Has a nice blend of speed and power to him.

Well thats my mock!!!

*Other prospects i really like and have had in my mock before i finalized it with the current prospects-
Odell Beckham Jr. WR, LSU
Melvin Gordon RB, Wisconsin
Pierre Desir CB, Lindenwood
Antone Exum S/CB, VT
Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB, Nebraska
Marcus Williams CB, North Dakota
Haha Clinton-Dix S, ALA
Dion Bailey S, USC
Nickoe Whitley S, Miss St.
Deone Bucanon S, Washington
James Hurst OT, UNC
Jack Mewhort OT, Ohio State
Seantrel Henderson, OT, UM
Bryce Petty QB, Baylor
Chuckie keeton QB, Utah State
Brandon Coleman WR, Rutgers
Carlos Hyde RB, Ohio State

I know some really want Jake Mathews in the 1st, and i would like him as well, but until Fisher changes his draft history, i won't be mocking a Tackle before the 2nd round. Also, after looking up all of Fisher's drafts, i saw that he has never drafted a Guard before the 5th, so that factored into my decision making as well.

I know some will not agree with me taking four defensive players to start off the draft, but it just worked out that way, and i also think that our defense has the making to be a truly elite group with some of these pieces added. I also think our offense is very very young, and still needs some time to grow before revamping some of the major pieces.

Well there you go fella's. Let me know what you think!!!! I spend a lot of time evaluating prospects and finding pieces i think would benefit the Rams the most. Hope you enjoyed!!!!!! Dont forget to let me know if i suck or not or what you like or what you hate.

GO RAMS!!!!!!!
