NFC West Update: Week 13
This week brings a huge divisional game with the SF 49ers. Before I talk about that lets take a look at the divisional standing chart.
NFC WEST | W | L | T | PCT | HOME | ROAD | DIV | CONF | PF | PA | DIFF | STRK |
Seattle | 10 | 1 | 0 | .909 | 5-0-0 | 5-1-0 | 3-0-0 | 7-0-0 | 306 | 179 | +127 | Won 6 |
SF 49ers | 7 | 4 | 0 | .636 | 3-2-0 | 4-2-0 | 2-1-0 | 4-3-0 | 274 | 184 | +90 | Won 1 |
Arizona | 7 | 4 | 0 | .636 | 5-1-0 | 2-3-0 | 0-3-0 | 4-4-0 | 254 | 223 | +31 | Won 4 |
St. Louis | 5 | 6 | 0 | .455 | 3-3-0 | 2-3-0 | 1-2-0 | 2-5-0 | 266 | 255 | +11 | Won 2 |
As you can see with SF win on Monday night SF and AZ have moved to a 7-4 record. SF wins the tie breaker by having the better divisional record. I believe that’s the formula in this case, and if not I’m sure our learned readers will let me know.
Let’s take a stat look at how we match up with the 49ers:

The surprise is that the Rams have made significant progress and the charts for the most part look more equal than the previous comparisons. Kaepernick gained some confidence in his passing game against Washington with 15/24, 235 yards, and 3 TD’s. Kaep was generating an 8.8 yards per pass rating against a horrible Washington secondary.
Surprisingly the 49ers couldn’t generate their usual yardage in the ground game. With 33 rushes and a pitiful 2.3 yard average per attempt. The 49ers only had 3 first downs by rushing and 12 passing which shows us that they went to the air to win this game.
I think we are going to mess up Kaepernicks passing game with a much stronger pass rush than Washington was able to generate in spite of the fact that they got two sacks by Ahmad Brooks. I look for Quinn and Long to have a good day rushing the QB.
This week’s games among our division:
Arizona at Eagles / Eagles wins this one at home.
Seattle vs. New Orleans / I’m going with a hot N.O. team. Seahawks are due for another loss and this is it.
Rams @ SF / I’m not even going to pick this, but of course I hope the Rams win it!
GO RAMS!
