I mentioned in my previous article that Fisher will play a run heavy offense and it was confirmed for me when I watched the game against the Jaguars. The type of run heavy offense he'll be running I believe is called the Smash mouth here is the definition of it from Wikipedia.
A smash mouth offense is the more traditional style of offense. It often results in a higher time of possession by running the ball heavily. So-called "smash-mouth football" is often run out of the I-formation or wishbone, with tight ends and receivers used as blockers. Though the offense is run-oriented, pass opportunities can develop as defenses play close to the line. Play-action can be very effective for a run-oriented team.
There are two additional types one is called "Three yards and a cloud of dust." and the other is called run to daylight you can look up the definitions in the Wikipedia. I suspect the reason Bradford is throwing short pass's is because he is told too though I'm sure he also does it to get rid of the football so he doesn't get pounded into the dirt. I also think that with this current team it will not be as effective because it depends on the Offensive line creating holes for the RB to run threw regardless of who else is blocking and a power RB which we may or may not have in Zac Stacy though I tend to lean toward not having one. The reason I say that is because he's been invisible during the Cowboys, 49ers and the cardinals game we'll see if he is the power rb we need or not during the Texans game, in a run heavy offense the center of attention is the RB not the QB so in this type of offense it is VITAL that the team that plays it has to have a Power running back just as the team that uses the spread offense HAS to have a talented QB that can fling it.
The issue with me is that Fisher is trying to jam a round peg into a square hole the players he currently has are for a spread offense not a smash mouth offense, what Fisher should have done in 2012 was kept SJ at least for the 2013 season and drafted a power rb to learn behind SJ then drafted O-linemen. The thing is he wasted a pick or two when he over reached for Tavon Austin since the Receivers will be blocking more then catching his talent level is wasted on the Rams so is Chris Givens I'm not worried about Bradford because what I think will happen is that he'll be traded or allowed to walk in 2014 or 15 to a team that can utilize his talents better then the Rams and because he came from the Rams what's going to happen is he'll thrive and succeed on that team and win multiple SB's while the Rams languish in the deep dis-paring pit of loserdom sigh why oh why can't my Rams ever get there crap together and the sad part I've only been a true fan since 2011 during a Browns game.
I don't think Fisher will be able to find a true power rb in the draft because there almost extinct and before anyone says well we have Zac Stacey I'm going to point out that it was against the JAGUARS I would have been more impressed if he had done it in the cowboys, 49ers and even the Cardinals game if he does it against the Texans then I will anoint him as a power RB that is so VITAL for this team to have but not until then. I don't believe that the smash mouth football that Fisher want's to play will succeed in today's NFL not with teams playing a version of the west coast or spread offense. We don't have the OL for it and the power RB that is needed is not in the college ranks I also think it's too predictable and simplistic in its nature for it to work properly in today's time.
