Josh Freeman, anyone?

The 2013 NFL season has been far more complicated for <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71416/josh-freeman'>Josh Freeman</a> than he ever imagined.

(from this story on SI.com)

It may be a bit early to think of a quarterback change, but might it not be a bad idea for the Rams to pick up Josh Freeman?

  1. Tampa Bay is still on the hook for his full base salary, so the Rams might not have to take all that much of a cap hit by signing him, especially if they back-load it for next year.
  2. His terrible numbers this season were as much because of his feud with Schiano, by all accounts a massive douchebag, as anything else. He had a great season last year.
  3. The Rams need a backup QB, bad. It's no secret that if Bradford goes down, so does our season. Hell, that actually happened in 2011, which was what? Oh yeah, a terrible season.
  4. Having a legitimate threat to take Bradford's job as starter just might light a fire under his ass. And hey, if it doesn't, we could always just give Freeman a try for a couple weeks! Maybe he'll surprise us.

I just really don't see where this is a bad move.
