Rams vs. Texans: The quick five

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Everyone gets a gold star this week, but these five players deserve special recognition for their efforts in the Rams' win.

Game balls all around this week for the St. Louis Rams. Let's jump right into the quick five.

1. Zac Stacy

Good thing the Rams didn't start him sooner ... oh wait. Either way, they did, finally, and it's paying off. The rookie from Vanderbilt rushed 18 times for 79 yards last week, and very nearly gave the Rams their first rushing touchdown of the season. He now has 161 yards on 33 carries total. Compare that to Daryl Richardson who leads the team with 167 yards on 58 carries.

Most impressive of all, Stacy has 99 yards after contact and seven missed tackles.

2. Alec Ogletree

Another rookie coming off a big day. Ogletree's 98-yard pick-six ties the record for the longest ever by an NFL linebacker. It is the new record for a rookie linebacker. He led the team with 10 tackles this week and added a forced fumble and pass break up.

3. Red zone weapons

Brian Quick caught one of two passes; it was a four-yard touchdown. Cory Harkey caught one pass, a touchdown. Lance Kendricks caught one of two, a touchdown. That was Kendricks' third touchdown catch, second most on the team. The Rams proficiency in the red zone owes a lot to these guys.

4. Michael Brockers

The Houston native did not disappoint in from of the home crowd. Two sacks, seven tackles, three tackles for a loss gave him his best performance to date. He's heating up over the last three games. Break out coming!

5. Sam Bradford

Credit where credit is due. The Rams abandoned Brian Schottenheimer's foolish plans to turn this team into a dink and dunk spread offense (as confusing as it sounds!). Focusing on the run set up more play action opportunities for Bradford. It also helped keep the pressure off him. His 16 pass attempts were a season low, but his 75 percent completion rate and 134.6 rating were season highs. His numbers would have been more impressive if Chris Givens hadn't dropped a deep pass.
