With the twentieth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears select Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma.
Next we address the #21 pick in the draft - The Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock.
#21 Cincinnati Bengals. Needs - MLB, SS, C. The Cincinnati Bengals just completed their second straight winning season. While that may not seem like much, 2011 and 2012 mark the first time the Bengals have had back to back winning seasons since the 1981 and 1982 seasons. Let that sink in for a moment.
The Bengals defense led the way in 2012. They were 2nd in the NFL with 51 sacks on the year, and boast one of the better D-lines in football. Cincinnati was 7th against the pass, 12th vs. the run, and finished 6th overall. The Bengals D proved reluctant to give up points in 2012 as well, ranking 8th in the League by allowing an even 20 points per game. They also managed 30 takeaways on the season, 7th best in the NFL.
The offense, while respectable, didn't fare quite as well. The Bengals offense finished just above the Rams in both passing yards (17th) and rushing yards (18th) on the season. However, the offensive line gave up 46 sacks, which was better than only 6 other teams. Of course, in what is really the most important statistic, they did manage to put points on the board, coming in at 12th in the NFL by averaging just over 24 points per game.
So who do the Bengals select? They need to find a replacement at MLB for Rey Maualuga, who is a free agent and probably won't be re-signed. The Bengals need to stop the revolving door at the Strong Safety position. They could also use an upgrade at Center. If Andre Smith leaves they will need to address the OT position as well. You're the GM. Who do you take?
