Trading Both Picks Out Of The 1st Round

First off I just want to say this is entirely possible. FishLes have shown they are willing to take a great deal if one comes along. Remember we started the 2012 draft with one 1st round pick and traded down not once but twice. 2013 will bring 2 1st round picks and I can't help but imagine the compensation the Rams would receive for both picks. I understand getting the top talent when you can but this draft seems pretty deep so they try to multiply their picks.

The first trade is to KC for our #16 pick. We receive their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks. I believe KC passes on a QB with their 1st pick due to lack of top QB talent. As we get into the 2nd half of the 1st round some QBs have come off the board and KC doesn't want to wait to get who's left in the 2nd. KC would be keeping their 1st so they will be getting 2 1st round picks in 2013 to sweeten the deal.

The second trade is to ATL for our #22 pick. We receive their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks. ATL was so close to the SB this year and could feel that extra piece a la Julio Jones will push them all the way. What makes this trade so appealing to ATL is they keep their 1st round pick this year to grab 2 1st round guys so their kinda just trading away their 3rd and 4th picks(same with KC).

So the Rams have managed to get themselves three 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks in 2013. This is where I believe most of the talent that meets our needs(through BPA) are at in this draft. And oh yea... 12 PICKS!

2A. Barrett Jones G/C/OT- Young, versatile and can play any position on the oline.

2B. DJ Fluker OT- Big man to hold down the right side.

2C. Da'Rick Rogers WR- Could be the steal of the draft.

3A. Phillip Thomas S- Ballhawk, Playmaker, Stud

3B. Markus Wheaton WR- Stick him in the slot to take over for Danny.

3C. DJ Swearinger S- Love the intensity he plays with.

4A. Jelani Jenkins OLB- Plug and play LB who drops due to injuries.

4B. Tyrann Mathieu CB- We have the picks to take the risk.

4C. Le'Veon Bell RB- Steps in as the between the tackles RB. Sorry SJ39 time for SB08 to take over.

5. Blaize Foltz OG- Very powerful. Let's see what Boo can do with him.

6. Ray Ray Armstrong S- Take the chance. Guy screams playmaker and could challenge the rookies.

7. Nick Becton OT- Late round sleeper.

So there are my picks for the draft. Time to add the cherry on top with FA Jarred Cooke TE and some DT depth. Hell, with the money we could save from cuts we may even be able to replace Gibby with Greg Jennings to mentor the young guns? Some easy cuts based off this draft would be Mikell, C Dahl, Haggan, Wells, Hunter, SJ39, Smith, Danny(FA), and maybe even H Dalh.

So what do you think? Love it? Hate it? Who would you take with all these picks? Let me know in the poll and comments below.
