Offseason
Re-signings
RB Steven Jackson
Steven Jackson IS our running game. Enough said.
Gibby is a good depth guy and has made some nice catches thru out his time with the Rams. Welcome back Gibby :)
QB Kellen Clemons
Knows the system so he gets a 1yr vet minimum contract..
LB Rocky Mcintosh
He's better then Haggan and we need LB help, sign'em to a 1yr vet minimum contract for depth
LB Justin Cole
Brought back for special teams
LB Sammy Brown
We need the help, he's back to compete
Good run blocker.. That is all.. 1yr vet minimum contract for depth
Played well at guard and center. Welcome back
OG Chris Williams
Brought back for depth
Not sure about him but he's cheap so bring'em back for depth
DT Trevor Laws
Don't know what we have in Laws so bring him back to compete in training camp
DT Jermelle Cudjo
Good rotational player, no real threat in going anywhere else.. He's back
Brought back to compete for starting position
TE Mike McNeill
Not sure how I feel about Mike.. Think long, think wrong.. Let'em walk.. Wait, should be cheap. Bring him back.
Hard to let them walk
I love Danny, You love Danny, We all love Danny but signing him to a long term contract is a big risk due to his injury history. He's missed 20 of the last 32 games. He is the Rams best wide receiver when he's on the field but that's only about 6 games a season. Not worth it in my opinion unless the Rams can some how get him to sign a year to year/pay for production contract with little guaranteed money but I doubt that will happen so I say let Danny walk..
He's good enough to start for another team and will be too expensive to be kept as a back-up for the Rams. Good luck with your next team Fletch..
7 sacks and solid against the run, Hayes is by far our best bench player but just like Fletcher he'll be too expensive to be kept as a back up. Hayes will get a lot of attention from other teams for a possible starting position, he wont get that from the Rams. It was fun while it lasted and good luck..
Hard to see in a Rams Uni
Kick rocks homie!
WR Steve Smith
The biggest disappointment this offseason.. Goodbye
LB Mario Haggan
Nothing special.. Let'em walk
Increasing cap space
FS Quintin Mikell/OT Wayne Hunter
Rams approach both players about restructuring their contracts and are successful :)
The draft
The NFC west is no longer the worst division in football. Both the 49ers and Seahawks made the playoffs and have really good defenses. The 49ers and Seahawks are also 1st and 2nd in points allowed this season. If the Rams want to compete for the NFC West title they need to seriously upgrade the offense. Scoring points and not allowing points scored on you is how you win football games. The Rams are 14th in allowed points and 25th in points scored.. The offense really needs to play catch up with the defense and thats why my picks are what they are instead of the sexy picks like FS, DT or OLB with our first three picks.
Round 1A OT Lane Johnson
With Fisher seeming to be out of reach and a big need at tackel Lane Johnson has to be my pick here.. Johnson is a raw prospect but is moving up draft boards fast. He's a project but the kid has a lot of potential. A good project for Paul Boudreau.. I see Johnson playing RT in 2013 and replacing the injury prone Saffold at LT who will be a free agent in 2014
Offensive Line
LT Saffold LG Rok C Wells RG Dahl RT Johnson
Round 1B WR Tavon Austin
The most versatile player in the draft. In college Austin played running back, wide receiver and was a return specialist. Dangerous in the screen game and a mismatch in the slot Austin could really beef up the offense. Some might knock Austin because he's only 5'9 but so is Steve Smith (Panthers) and Wes Welker (Patriots) both players are solid #1's for their teams.
Round 2 WR Da'Rick Rogers
Rogers is 1st round talent but will fall to the 2nd due to failed drug tests. Rogers could be our Janoris Jenkins pick in this draft. Called a Julio Jones clone it's a no brainier here.
Brian Quick, Chris Givens, Tavon Austin, Da'Rick Rogers, Brandon Gibson and Austin Pettis
Round 3 OLB Sean Porter
He's fast and has great coverage skills. Porter will play WLB and Dunbar can be moved to SLB where he played with the Saints.
Linebackers
WLB Sean Porter MLB JL55 SLB Dunbar
Round 4 FS D.J. Swearinger
Another versatile player, he can play press man corner or defend the deep pass as a free safety. With the Rams front four and stud corners Swearinger will fit right at home as he had similar talents around him in college.
Safety's
FS Swearinger SS Mikell
Round 5 CB Tyann Mathieu
Everyone knows about this kid.. Way too much talent to pass up here
Corners
Finnegan, Jenkins, Johnson, Mathieu
Round 6 DT Josh Boyd
Solid run stuffer and is capable of taking on double teams.. Nice project for Waufle
Round 7 DE Eric Martin
