With the twelfth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Miami Dolphins select Keenan Allen, WR, California.
Next we address the #13 pick in the draft - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the clock.
#13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Needs - CB, DE, FS. The Bucs season was one of extremes. QB Josh Freeman set the Bucs all-time record for passing TDs with 27. He also threw 17 INTs and fumbled 10 times. Only the Giants (20) and Broncos (21) allowed fewer QB sacks than the Buccaneers (26) in 2012. But then again, only the Jaguars (20) and Raiders (25) collected fewer sacks than the Bucs defense (27). Tampa's defense was #1 in the NFL in both rushing yards allowed (82.5 yds./game) and in yards allowed per carry (3.5 yds./carry). Conversely, Tampa's pass defense was the worst in the NFL, allowing just under 300 yards per game. The Bucs enjoyed a 4 game win streak in which they averaged 35 points per game and moved into playoff contention. They immediately followed up that 4 game win streak with a 5 game losing streak in which they averaged a meager 16 points per game and guaranteed themselves another losing season. The Buccaneers are a young team, so inconsistent play is to be expected, but they took that notion to extremes in 2012. So who do they draft with the 13th pick? Obviously they need help getting after the QB, and Dion Jordan is still on the board. They need CB's, as their corners played terribly last year, and Johnthan Banks is sitting here for them. Ronde Barber will be 105 this year, so they need to look at drafting a Safety to replace him. Maybe they look to complete their LB corps and take Alec Ogletree to play SLB. You decide.
